Mentoring

As well as the lead for Sanctuary Queer Arts Newer Artist Development Programme - mentoring new artists annually, I also mentor emerging artists for Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Scottish Youth Theatre and Performance Collective Stranraer.

It gives me immense satisfaction to be able to use my experience in directing, dramaturgy and artistic leadership to help younger artists develop their craft through new productions.

Below are some still from recent projects with the aforementioned organisations…

RCS MA MUSICAL THEATRE

candid cabaret

For the past 4 years I have had the honour of working with MA students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. A true highlight of my working year, each Summer I get to mentor students in an autobiographical cabaret performance unit.

Here’s one of my mentees Imani Russell from 2019’s cohort performing an original song they wrote.

DRAMATURGY

With over 15 years experience in the performance industry - as a director, producer and writer - it is always a privilege to work as a dramaturg on other people’s productions - text based or not… Highlights in this area include working with artists Emma Jayne Parke, Xena Gusthart, Kev P. Gilday, Leyla Josephine, Jenna Watt, as a script reader for Glasgay! and Sanctuary Queer Arts.
